Pandan Chicken

Gotten lots of pandan leave from the babysitter when she removed the pandan plant from her front garden... so, I make pandan chicken. However instead of deep frying it, I grill it.

Pre-marinate chicken with pepper, salt, oyster sauce and 5 spice powder. Marinate for at least 4hrs... wrapped with pandan leave and seal the end with toothpick.

Grill for 25mins... under high heat.

Potato Rice Cake

Sophie is such a fussy gal, she needs lots of variation to her food and they need to taste nice (to her standard of course). She has not been taking porridge for a while coz she refuse to eat them. So I had been giving her ABC rice or some time mashed potato, home made burger patties, etc...

Last week, I made potato rice cake for her... no fix measurement for the ingredients, all based on estimate and just dump in:

- a handful of steam potato
- 1 tablespoon of chopped carrot
- 1 tablespoon of chopped spring onions
- a handful of cooked rice
- 1 tablespoon of onions
- 1 tablespoon of minced pork
- 1 tablespoon of flour
- pinch of corn flour
- olive oil for frying

Mixed everything together in a blender. Heat up the pan with olive oil. Scooped with spoon, place it on the pan, press it down and once one side is cooked (after bout half a min), flip over. Ready to serve....

Failed Coconut Candy

Bought some grated coconut to "oil" the stainless steel pan and not sure what to do with the coconut. Instead of throwing it away since it is still edible... I thought of making candy with it.

But trying to be a little health concious, the sugar amount is insufficient to harden the thing... need to try again next time with more sugar.

Little Bread

I attempted making small sizes bread last week so that Sophie can hold and eat them on her own. The bread taste good, but the skin is kinda hard.

Main ingredients are sweet potato yam (purple in color) and parmesan cheese powder.

Next time I will do a steam bake instead to get a softer skin.

Btw, daddy put the bread side by side like this and ask you guys to comment what comes to your mind.. hahaha....

Sushi King Miri

Yesterday was the first time trying out the Miri outlet of Sushi King. To my colleague, that was their first encounter with Sushi King...

This is one of the most anticipated food outlet at this boring place, Miri... and the opening of Sushi King means less trip to Brunei for Jap food... and competition to the two existing lousy local restaurant, Nikko and Shiki.

Overall experience, kinda poor compared to the other Sushi King.. mayb becoz it is still very new and short of staff. There is no greetings like the other outlets when you get in the restaurant. It took them almost 5 mins before someone come get our orders and that is also after we asked for someone to come... all the tables are not clean up immediately, but only when there is new customer that walks in.

Food is ok. Crunchy salmon skin is not crunchy and the salmon slices are really thin... luckily the noodle tasted ok. Strong miso taste (but some others may not like it)

Creamy Macaroni

Last night, we had a very odd combo for dinner . We had creamy macaroni and ABC soup (including Sophie).

- Macaroni
- parmesan cheese
- mixed dried herbs (those use for pizza)
- cream cheese
- butter

Sophie's one with added stuff, she get potato and carrot from the ABC soup + some fresh milk, blend to small pieces.
She loves it and was busy biting while playing with her teething biscuit.
