Spicy Zesty Fish




  • 5 pieces of chili padi (for the paste)


  • 4 cloves of medium size shallot (for the paste)


  • 1 bulb of garlic (for the paste)


  • 2 pieces of red chilli (for the paste)


  • 1 piece of star anise (for the paste)


  • 1 inch of cinammon stick (for the paste)


  • Salt and pepper to taste (for the paste)


  • 1 piece of fish fillet (approximately 400g)


  • 1 teaspoon of lime juice


  • 1 tablespoon of orange juice


  • 1/2 teaspoon of mushroom soy sauce


  • 1/2 teaspoon of cornstarch for thickening


  • Salt and pepper to marinate fish





  1. Marinate the fish with some salt and pepper for about 20mins.


  2. Pan fry it with some olive oil till cooked. Dish out on serving plate.


  3. Saute the paste item with the oil from the pan.


  4. Mix the lime juice, orange juice, corn starch and one tablespoon of water. Add in to the paste that is frying on the pan.


  5. Pour the sauce on top of the fish.


  6. Garnish with some parsley.
